Puy du Fou has confirmed that its new ‘Le Grand Tour’ rail experience, an immersive tour of France, is set to launch next year.

The six-day, five-night experience offers immersive shows in an authentic Belle Epoque train, with guests departing from Gare de l’Est in Paris and travelling to iconic locations such as Champagne and Burgundy.

Passengers will also visit Lake Annecy, the Arcachon Basin, the châteaux of the Loire Valley, and the Palais des Papes in Avignon. The trip terminates at Puy du Fou in the Vendée.

Puy du Fou’s press officer, Clémence Germon, told French newspaper the Connexion: “We are working on the final details so that we can offer our travellers an unforgettable experience and will announce the opening of bookings at a later date.”

Originally due to launch last year, Le Grand Tour is billed as the world’s longest show. Tickets prices start at €8,450 per person. The train has 21 cabins and suites, and can accommodate a maximum of 42 passengers.

“This number guarantees an optimum level of comfort and service for every passenger. The idea is to create an intimate and exclusive atmosphere, allowing passengers to enjoy a personalised, made-to-measure experience,” Germon added.

Instead of rides and coasters, Puy du Fou’s theme parks offer spectacular shows, immersive experiences and period villages. The operator has two permanent parks – in France and Spain.

Puy du Fou’s expansion plans

Earlier this year, Puy du Fou opened Saga City of Light, its first attraction in China. It is also creating a new show about Cherokee history in Sevier County, Tennessee.

Puy du Fou’s international expansion is continuing with plans for a £300 million UK theme park near Bicester in Oxfordshire.

Puy du Fou’s international sales manager Gaëtan Favreau, told the Connexion: “Our ambition is to develop two other theme parks by 2030, one of which would be in the UK.

“We needed five years to create the theme park in Spain, so we may need less time because it’s easier when you’ve already done it once.”
