Zamperla, a leading ride manufacturer, has revealed the new Family Thrill Launch Coaster, in partnership with Parc Spirou in France.

The coaster is expected to open in 2026 and is designed to combine thrills with family-friendly appeal. With both high-energy excitement and a unique profile smooth ride, the Family Thrill Launch Coaster will be a unique addition to Parc Spirou’s offering.

Manga inspired attraction

With this project, Parc Spirou hopes to grow its family provision and offer an adrenaline-filled attraction that is equally appropriate for younger guests.

Hervé Lux, general manager of Parc Spirou, says: “We are thrilled to bring an exclusive attraction like the Family Thrill Launch Coaster to Parc Spirou, a unique coaster designed specifically for us. We chose Zamperla for the role as a major manufacturer with highly qualified engineers, their industry-leading safety record, and—since we wanted to work with IPs—the high quality of their creative team.

“With this partnership, we’re confident we’re offering our visitors an exciting and safe experience, ideal for those needing that ‘first big coaster’ while also satisfying teens and young adults looking for a coaster with excitement.”

The Family Thrill Launch Coaster is not only exciting to ride but also visually appealing. From intricate set pieces to thematic ride components, Zamperla’s creative team has produced an immersive experience that will captivate both Naruto fans and newcomers to the manga series.

Enrico Patechi, creative design manager, says: “I have a personal connection to this project because I’ve always been a fan of manga, and I can proudly affirm that our team has done an outstanding job. Our goal was to create an experience that feels like an extension of Naruto’s world, and we believe fans will love the final product. It was challenging to translate the 2D manga into detailed 3D fiberglass elements.”

Shared experience

The ride experience consists of two parts, with a combined length of 1,004 metres (3,204 feet). The first half of the ride includes a 65 km/h (40 mph) launch up a High Chicane and Angled Airtime Hill. From here, the coaster descends and hugs the ground, accelerating over a Double Down before circling around the towering spike and returning to the loading station.

Riders will then get a surprise as it accelerates again over the same launch section, but at a quicker speed of 75 km/h (47 mph). The coaster passes over the switch, turns left around a 180 degree turn, and accelerates at the summit of the Airtime Hill. It twists through an S-Curve before ascending a Dead-End Spike that rises 31.5 metres (103 feet) tall. At the top, gravity takes over and riders are propelled backwards for the second part of the ride.

Zamperla initially introduced the Family Thrill Launch Coaster at the IAAPA Expo in 2021. The renowned Italian ride manufacturer built this coaster to appeal to both families and coaster lovers, resulting in a shared experience that everyone can enjoy.

Adam Sandy, roller coaster sales and marketing director, says: “The Family Thrill Launch Coaster is a great addition to the Zamperla portfolio. This experience is a broad appeal attraction, which means that riders with a 105 cm (42 in) minimum height requirement a majority of park visitors can enjoy the attraction.

“In addition, it has several marketable moments like multiple launches and a spike. These attributes are unique selling points parks can use to sell the coaster on social media, it allows them to break out and market the ride in a completely new way.”

This partnership between Zamperla and Parc Spirou represents a significant milestone in an already successful alliance.

Charles De Bruyne, sales manager Europe, says: “Working with Parc Spirou has been an incredibly rewarding experience for us. We are proud to be part of the world premiere with the arrival of Naruto, and excited to open the door to a new audience, both in terms of themes and rides. We look forward to continuing this partnership and creating more unforgettable experiences together.”

This new coaster reflects Zamperla and Parc Spirou’s joint commitment to providing shared entertainment experiences, allowing families to ride a thrilling coaster that combines cutting-edge engineering with cherished storytelling in a memorable experience for guests of all ages.

This year, Zamperla is celebrating both the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Family Coaster system, and the installation of over 55 Family Coasters across six continents. Its latest Family Coaster, Tim’s Runaway Grain Wagons, opened at Vala’s Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska, US, earlier this month.
