The company will share ways to use open automation solutions to create an exceptional visitor experience which integrates all technical systems. Audio, video, lighting and stage technology are brought together on a single platform with secure automation.
Expert automation partner
At ISE 2025, Beckhoff will focus on cutting-edge solutions for audio and video system integration, and its expertise in automation partnerships. A key example is the company’s work with Riedel and its communication systems for entertainment venues.
With this partnership, it is now simple for system integrators to integrate Beckhoff’s open PC and EtherCAT-based control technology components into the Riedel system and vice versa. To do this, Beckhoff uses TwinCAT based on TwinCAT 3 TCP/IP (TF6310) to support the primary components of the RRCS protocol from Riedel. This facilitates the deployment of Riedel SmartPanels and communication with the Riedel Artist and Bolero systems.
Potential use cases in a theatre setting include the dynamic change and switching of audio circuits based on logic and priorities running in the Beckhoff control system. It can also be used with stage management for show control such as cue-light signalling and announcements.
End users can select and combine control elements, including Beckhoff multi-touch Control Panels and TwinCAT HMI, Riedel SmartPanels or wireless Bolero beltpacks as control and monitoring interfaces, and in combination with traditional light switches, control wheels, and mechanical inputs. The Beckhoff control system allows for extensive communication and control options, including audio/video systems, stage and show applications, and building automation such as temperature control, blinds, and lighting.
At ISE 2025, Beckhoff will also highlight innovations in media and entertainment technology such as the CX9240 series DIN rail-mountable Embedded PCs with 1.2 GHz Arm Cortex-A53 CPU, which are distinguished by low power consumption and fanless operation, and the EL2574 digital output terminal for affordable LED control, with pixel control based on multiple LED protocols such as WS28xx. With its small 12 mm enclosure, the EtherCAT Terminal can support the control of up to 2048 pixels.
Beckhoff Automation recently collaborated with Salzgeber GmbH, an expert in planning and implementing cutting-edge audio and video systems, to update the sound system at the acclaimed Vienna State Opera in Austria.
