Electrosonic, a leading international audiovisual and technology services company, has shared details of the New Jersey Hall of Fame Entertainment and Learning Center (NJHOF ELC) at American Dream, where it has provided AV integration.

This 10,000-square-foot attraction inspires visitors to follow their dreams and follow in the footsteps of its inductees, with memorabilia and immersive interactive experiences that capture the energy and dedication of these New Jersey icons.

Electrosonic, in collaboration with exhibition and experience designers C&G Partners, Cortina Productions, Donna Lawrence Productions, and Northern Lights, designed and integrated the LED displays, a simulator ride system, projections, and audio, control, and music systems across five exhibits.

Iconic immersive experiences

Two large LED screens greet guests before large-scale interactive exhibits enable them to share personal moments with digital Hall of Fame members.

Exhibits include The Map of Fame, which invites guests to learn more about their favourite inductees or discover new heroes through gesture-activated interaction. Visitors can select the name of a New Jersey icon on the 3D model and interact with content projected on the table. To guarantee a flawless experience, Electrosonic combined the content delivery system, gesture-activated technology, and ceiling projection system.

The interactive is surrounded by famous objects like Les Paul’s guitar, Larry Doby’s baseball cap, and William Carlos Williams’ typewriter.

In a neighbouring exhibit, street artist Indie184 has created a vivid graffiti mural honouring some of New Jersey’s most prominent personalities (pictured top). The artwork, which combines Pop Art with the recognisable style of Asbury Park, represents the state’s distinctive and diverse character.

Inspiring & unforgettable

The NJHOF ELC provides visitors with unforgettable and interactive experiences that go beyond traditional displays. For example, on the Karaoke Stage, guests can sing alongside “holograms” of musical luminaries such as Gloria Gaynor and Frankie Valli, delivered by Electrosonic using a Pepper’s Ghost effect, which projects virtual images of the performers onto the stage.

In the neighbouring Late Night Jersey TV studio, they can host virtual interviews using green screen technology with inductees such as Danny DeVito and Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, who tell inspiring stories from their careers and lives. To create this effect, Electrosonic integrated a transparent LCD screen that allows visitors to speak directly to the inductees.

“Fly Me to the Moon” is an epic journey that uses complex dome projection and immersive audio to highlight the numerous contributions that New Jersey Hall of Fame inductees have made to space research. Guests are stationed on motion chairs inside a 180 degree dome, where they join Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein as they ride a modified Model T through space and time.

Highlights include Buzz Aldrin’s momentous moon landing and a visit to the International Space Station, where astronauts Mark and Scott Kelly discuss their experiences of space flight. Frank Sinatra’s signature song, “Fly Me to the Moon”, plays as the experience ends.

The turnkey ride and domed projection system for this exhibit posed the biggest challenge of this complex integration project. To achieve the stringent state approval requirements, ride professionals, content creators, and technology partners had to work closely together.

Guests will also experience The Jersey Proud Theater, which is inspired by Hollywood premieres. This 30-seat theatre shows an inspiring film by Donna Lawrence Productions that showcases the inductees’ legendary performances and accomplishments, immersing visitors in New Jersey’s history. For this exhibit, Electrosonic designed and integrated audio and projection technologies that overcome the difficulties of projecting onto a curved screen and provide an immersive movie experience.

A spokesperson from Electrosonic says: “This is a Hall of Fame that goes beyond the expectations of a digital generation that demands more from venues. It meets the continuing demand for in-person experiences while offering a choice of interactive and virtual installations that allow visitors to create their own personalized journeys through the space.”

Last month, Electrosonic announced the enhancement of its strategic partnership team with the appointment of two key members in North America, with David Whitemyer as director of partnerships, museums and culture, and Kate Klipp as sales associate.
