The World of Tim Burton exhibition at the Design Museum in London has become the institution’s most popular show in its 35-year history.
More than 171,000 people have visited the Tim Burton exhibition. Due to this record-breaking demand, the show will be extended by five weeks, running through 26 May.
Before arriving in London, the exhibition had been on a decade-long world tour, during which it visited 14 cities in 11 countries.

When the exhibition opened to the public in October 2024, it had already broken the museum’s record for advance ticket sales.
It has now surpassed the Design Museum’s previous most popular exhibition, a Stanley Kubrick show, which welcomed more than 156,000 guests in 2019.
Burton said: “I’m blown away by the response to the exhibition and to hear about the record number of visitors.
“I didn’t expect any of this, but the Design Museum did an amazing job and I’m so pleased that there is an extended opportunity for people to see what they created.”
The World of Tim Burton extended
The Design Museum has also revealed that its Barbie exhibition welcomed 144,480 visitors across its seven-month run, making it the museum’s third-most visited exhibition ever.
Tim Marlow, director and CEO of the Design Museum, said: “It’s been a remarkable year at the Design Museum with both the Barbie and Tim Burton exhibitions smashing our existing attendance records.
“While we’re sad to see our Barbie exhibition close, we’re pleased that it will be going on a global tour with venues to be announced soon.”

Marlow said, “For Burton fans, we’re delighted that we can offer five more weeks to visit — or revisit — Tim Burton’s creative world.”
The World of Tim Burton displays more than 600 items from Burton’s work and films, including objects from his earliest unrealised projects to his most recent film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024).
Highlights include props, set designs and costumes from films like Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Mars Attacks! (1996), and Sleepy Hollow (1999).
