The International Council of Museums (ICOM) has announced that the ICOM UK will host an online event for students and emerging professionals in the museum and cultural sector on 9 April 2025.
Entitled Embracing Transformation – Healing With Museums, the one-day conference will explore the healing side of museums. The keynote speaker will be Professor. Helen Chatterjee, a professor of human and ecological health working across UCL Biosciences and UCL Arts and Sciences.

Museums as spaces for healing, resilience and education
Organised by the ICOM UK S&EP Working Group, this event will explore how museums are becoming powerful spaces for healing, resilience and education in response to global challenges.
Participants will gain fresh perspectives on innovative curatorial practices, community co-creation, digital engagement, and sustainable development. It is also an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and industry leaders to reimagine the future of museums together.

ICOM also recently announced that the ICOM UK conference 2025 will take place in Liverpool from 1 – 2 May, centered around the theme Regenerative Museums for Sustainable Futures.
This two-day event will feature lectures, panel discussions, and an evening reception on the first day. This will be followed by workshops and guided tours of the city and museums on the second day. With more international speakers than ever, participants can expect practical examples, case studies, and engaging discussions- making this conference an essential event for the worldwide museum community.
This year, the conference will follow a fully hybrid format for the first time, allowing online delegates to attend Day 1’s lectures live from anywhere around the globe.
