The new Wafaifo Resort Hoi An in Vietnam will offer technology-driven wellness experiences including epigenetic testing and AirPod hyperbaric chambers.
When it opens on 1 September, the 134-room resort will provide various wellness, spa and medical options in its health facility. It is putting together a team of doctors, nurses, healers and trainers to build personalised wellness programmes for each guest using the centre.
One option for visitors is a health diagnostic report using epigenetic testing, with hair follicles analysed by a computer connected to a laboratory in Germany.
The report is presented in graph form and includes information on the gut, circulatory and immune systems. A medical consultant at the centre will take guests through their results.

“The reports are a quick and effective way to obtain an overview of underlying issues,” said Thanh Nguyen, director of spa and wellness at Wafaifo. “The reports will suggest a plan of action to correct those challenges that are impacting the health of guests.”
The wellness centre will also offer sessions in AirPod hyperbaric chambers. Exposure in the chambers to higher levels of oxygen and hydrogen can slow the ageing process, improve concentration, and increase energy and stamina.
The facility’s infrared saunas can lower blood pressure, aid with weight loss and detoxify visitors, while electronically controlled ice baths can reduce blood pressure, improve circulation, flush toxins, and reduce inflammation and swelling.
As for sleep technology, guests can enjoy a sleep and restoration experience in their rooms with a headset, eye mask and special ‘anti-gravity’ chair to induce a meditative state of wellbeing and deep relaxation.
Immersive and tech-driven wellness
“Our wellness offering at Wafaifo Resort derives from the latest smart technology that augments the eternal importance of sleep, nutrition, exercise, health and mental wellbeing,” said Pieter van der Hoeven, managing director of Wafaifo.
“Our goal is to help visitors achieve their own health objectives, be it weight loss, beauty, anti-ageing, performance enhancement, physical or spiritual wellbeing.”
Luxury hotel chain Jumeirah is also offering wellness experiences like brain biohacking and cold therapy across its portfolio of properties.
Earlier this year at greenloop, Lindsay Madden-Nadeau, senior director of wellness strategy at Red Sea Global, spoke about the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the wellbeing business.
