Universal Studios Hollywood in California is getting a new Hello Kitty-themed cafe at Universal CityWalk, as well as a Sanrio shop.
The theme park has announced that it will soon open the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe and Sanrio Smile Shop, although it hasn’t confirmed exactly when the new additions will debut.
The cafe and shop are expected to be situated in the former locations of Chick Chick Chicken and Francesca’s at Universal CityWalk, but that has not been confirmed by Universal either.
Currently, there are Hello Kitty cafes in California’s Irvine Spectrum Center, and in Las Vegas and Vanvouver.
At Universal Studios Hollywood, guests can meet Hello Kitty outside the Animation Studio Store on the upper lot. The shop has a section for Hello Kitty and Sanrio merchandise.
Irvine’s Hello Kitty Grand Cafe serves cakes, cookies, donuts, and hot and iced drinks, as well as a selection of exclusive merchandise. Afternoon tea and evening cocktail services are also available.
Earlier this year, Universal Studios Hollywood celebrated the first anniversary of Super Nintendo World with new experiences including the Super Mario-themed Power Up Cafe.

In more news, Universal Studios Hollywood is opening its new Fast & Furious-themed coaster, which it has named ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’, in 2026. It will be the park’s first-ever high-speed outdoor coaster.
Opened in 1964, Universal Studios Hollywood boasts world-class rides, attractions and events, including Jurassic World – The Ride and Halloween Horror Nights.
