Disneyland in California is developing new experiences inspired by Marvel, the Avatar franchise, and Coco, as announced at Disney’s D23 fan event this weekend.
The Marvel-themed attractions are coming to Disney California Adventure and will double the size of the park’s existing Avengers Campus.
Avengers: Infinity Defense is described as a multi-world adventure, with riders travelling to iconic locations such as Asgard and Wakanda.

Stark Flight Lab is the other attraction. On this ride, guests are seated in two-person pods before being grabbed by a robot arm and whirled around in a simulated flight.
Also at Disney California Adventure, an innovative new land will be inspired by the second Avatar film, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), as well as the upcoming films.
In a blog post, Disney said the new Avatar attraction will be “a dynamic, intense and emotional experience on a grand scale that we know our guests will love”.
Innovative Avatar attraction
Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s theme parks and experiences division, said at D23: “Disney Experiences is embarking on an accelerated path of ambitious growth and innovation.
“With so many great Disney stories to tell, we’re excited to bring an unprecedented number of new projects to life in the near future.”
D’Amaro added: “Today we unveiled an extensive slate of new experiences that only Disney can deliver. Work is well underway on all of the new projects we announced, and fans will start to see them come to life in the near future.”
Disney parks’ first Coco ride
Another new attraction for Disney California will be based on Pixar’s Coco (2017). This is the first-ever Coco ride in a Disney park, and work will begin on it in 2026.
“We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way through the latest audio-animatronics technology,” D’Amaro said. “These figures will appear in ways you’ll have to see to believe.”
