Alterface, a leader in interactive technology, has united the iconic Cinnamoroll character with fans at the Discovery Theater in Sanrio Puroland theme park in Tokyo for Cinnamoroll’s Little Big Adventure. The attraction, which is the first of its kind in Asia, features a pair of synchronized theatres that offer interactive gameplay and special effects.

Cinnamoroll is a character series created by Sanrio in 2001 that features messages about the value of friendship, kindness, and the importance of never giving up on your goals.

A story-driven adventure

“This is Puroland park’s first new attraction in more than a decade,” says Stéphane Battaille, CEO of Alterface.

“It is a delightful story-based ride with audience engagement at key moments that asks and answers several questions: Why is a rainbow so beautiful? What is it made of? The adventure creates a strong emotional connection between the guests, the lovable game characters and this sense of wonder.”

Cinnamoroll’s Little Big Adventure’s gameplay seamlessly blends interactive and narrative elements. Although there is a competitive aspect that motivates players to overcome hurdles with their Magic Star Wands, the storyline journey is still prioritised over shooting mechanics. This strategy ensures that the focus remains on the developing plot and the emotional connection, enabling guests to fully immerse themselves in the narrative while still participating in light-hearted competition.

There are 35 motion-based seats in each of the two theatres, two of which are wheelchair-accessible, and a bench for young children is at the front. As visitors collaborate with Cinnamoroll and his friends on their search for rainbows, an engaging environment is created through interactive features and stunning effects. With their Magic Star Wands, guests help along the journey by aiming at a number of obstacles. Afterwards, the faces of the most accurate helpers are displayed on the theatre screen as a reward.

In addition to offering distinctive, interactive guest experiences and an impressive capacity of 600+ people per hour throughput inside a small space, this dual theatre strategy also maximises staff utilisation and ensures a positive return on investment.

“Believe in yourself and anything is possible, Cinnamoroll has told his fans,” says Battaille. “At Alterface we believe in making any interactive experience possible. Every IP character deserves to be brought to life for their fans. Our team and our patented technologies has made that happen for Sanrio and Cinnamoroll through this unique dual screen approach to entertaining and engaging guests. We can’t wait for our next challenge.”

Earlier this month, Alterface shared details of the success of the first Moviemax. Driven by Alterface interactive technologies, this new attraction’s compact and portable design transforms guest experiences at fairs and travelling events.
