The Chickasaw Nation’s $400 million Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark is on track to launch in Oklahoma City on 1 April, with room bookings now open.

The 11-storey, 404-room resort includes a 100,000-square-foot indoor water park with a wave pool, a lazy river, cabanas, a children’s pool, and a pool for adults. It also features 15 waterslides, including body slides, tube slides and raft slides.

The 4.5-acre outdoor lagoon, which opens in May, includes slides, an inflatable obstacle course, and a “fly pool” with a zip line above, allowing guests to fly over the water and into the pool.

In addition to the water park, Okana will offer a family entertainment centre (FEC) with interactive games, as well as 12 dining outlets, and an amphitheatre and event lawn.

“I’m telling you, it’s really amazing,” Okana’s managing director Ken Leone told the Oklahoma City Free Press. “We’re moving along. Everything is on schedule, and that’s the important thing.”

The water park will be open all year, Brian Szydloski, general manager of Okana’s water park operations, told the publication.

“It’s all temperature controlled, so the water and air will be maintained between 84 and 86 degrees all year round. It doesn’t matter if it’s 10 degrees outside, it’s always 84 to 86 degrees at Okana,” he said.

Room bookings open for Okana

Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark is located close to the First Americans Museum, which opened in September 2021.

“Okana Resort & Indoor Waterpark has been designed to complement First Americans Museum’s focus on culture as well as to connect visitors to other entertainment experiences along this established and vibrant part of the Oklahoma River,” said Chickasaw Nation governor Bill Anoatubby in a press release.

Aquatic Development Group (ADG), a leading water park and recreational design, construction and manufacturing firm, is working on the Okana project.
