Mad Systems Inc., the award-winning audiovisual and interactive system designer and integrator, has announced that it delivered an Alice®-based exhibition for the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Vista Del Lago visitor centre near Pyramid Lake, north of Los Angeles. This is part of the firm’s continued partnership with the California DWR to enhance visitor centres across the state.
The installation features Mad Systems’ patented advanced media delivery solution, Alice. This AI-driven system provides hyper-personalised media delivery, allowing individualised experiences for every visitor.
The facility wanted to upgrade exhibits of five new technologies the department uses to predict water availability based on snowfall, monitoring underground aquifers, irrigation scheduling, aquatic ecosystems, flood mapping and other water resource management needs.
Personalised experiences
The exhibit features one panel to allow visitors to sign into the Alice system, five panels that host personalised informational projections and one interactive kiosk detailing how DWR uses LiDAR to predict water availability based on snow depth, density, and reflectivity measurements. Each exhibit is powered by Alice to produce content delivered both in text and as a narrative for different ages and in 22 different languages.
Visitors start at the registration kiosk, using their personal smart device to scan a QR code or NFC tag to register to the Alice system and select their age level and language preference. Once at the exhibit, using an NFC tag or QR code integrated into the exhibit media, users can then scan the code with their device and activate the exhibit.
On the projected graphic panels, the video features text and an audio narrative personalised to the visitor’s preferred language and age. On the interactive for LiDAR, narrative audio and text guide them through how LiDAR works and how it is used by DWR, again in a personalised manner.
The text provided by the Alice system on each exhibit is pulled from information supplied by DWR and uniquely tailored to each visitor’s specifications.
Mad Systems is continuing its initiative of integrating exhibits that adhere to the principles of IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equality, accessibility). This Alice system allows the exhibit to be accessible for all visitors regardless of language and age and provides equal access to information.
“We’re delighted to have worked with DWR’s team to create and install this beautiful Alice installation that provides support for visitors of any age, with support of multiple languages, so that visitors can be introduced to some of the amazing new technologies that the Department of Water Resources are using,” says Maris Ensing, founder of Mad Systems.
Last month, the company announced that London’s Flux Innovation Lounge, known for its dedication to creativity and innovation, has included Mad Systems’ patented Alice system in its latest relaunch.
