London’s British Museum has teamed up with K-pop girl group NewJeans, who are now serving as official Korean audio guides for the institution.

Via the Korea Times, NewJeans’ record label Ador announced that the group’s five members – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein – have provided their voices for audio introductions to key exhibits in the British Museum’s Korean gallery.

Additionally, NewJeans have supplied introductions to select Romano-British artefacts. In the narrations, the band presents artefacts including the bronze head of Roman emperor Hadrian and a rare Korean ‘moon jar’.

The Korean audio tour is available on the British Museum’s audio app.

“It’s truly an honor and joy for us to be a part of showcasing the rich beauty of Korean culture through these artifacts,” NewJeans said in a press release. “We hope many will listen.”

BTS star and art enthusiast RM (Kim Namjoon) is one of blooloop’s 2022 museum influencers. The K-pop artist shares his trips to museums on Instagram, and his fans follow his lead.

As well as donating to cultural institutions and organisations, RM has provided comment on artworks for an exhibition’s audio guide at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
