Alton Towers has announced an opening date for its Toxicator topspin ride, and released drone footage of the new attraction.
Launching on 15 March, Toxicator is the highest topspin ride of its kind, towering at 78-foot-high due to its 16-foot elevated platform.
“We’re excited to be giving fans a flavour of the truly ‘spincredible’ power of Toxicator,” said Bianca Sammut, vice president of Alton Towers Resort.
“From the 15 March those brave enough to submit to the spin will be able to experience the latest that Forbidden Valley has to offer.”
Via a press release, the drone footage shows off Toxicator‘s intense spin patterns and centrifugal forces, unveiling the dizzying ride experience.
Located in Forbidden Valley, the new ride is flanked by the Nemesis Reborn coaster, which opened last year after an 18-month transformation to replace its 250-tonne, 716-metre-long track.
Highest topspin ride of its kind
Toxicator is the next chapter in the Nemesis and Forbidden Valley story and is described as new technology by the Phalanx – the secret (and fictional) organisation tasked with controlling the Nemesis beast.
During the experience, riders are flipped around and held face down above a bubbling pool of toxic alien acid as water fountains shoot up around the attraction.

“The extreme centrifugal forces are designed to extract and refine toxic saliva from the Nemesis beast, converting it into a chemical solution so powerful it can melt anything it touches,” Alton Towers said.
To make way for Toxicator, Alton Towers retired The Blade, a post-apocalyptic-themed swinging ride, originally opened as the Pirate Ship attraction in 1980.
Meanwhile, Alton Towers has submitted a planning application for a new junior coaster in its CBeebies Land, which the park hopes to launch in 2026.
