London‘s Vagina Museum has teamed up with De Nadas Empanadas to create the world’s first “Vulvanada”, a vagina-shaped turnover.
Launched ahead of International Women’s Day on 7 March, the Vulvanada was designed to raise awareness of Endometriosis Action Month (March) and funds for the museum.
The snack will be available exclusively at De Nadas’ new shop in Bethnal Green, close to the Vagina Museum, from 7 until 31 March.
World’s first “Vulvanada”
The pastry is filled with spiced peaches, and £2 from every sale will go to the Vagina Museum.
“There’s nothing dirty and shameful about the vulva,” said Zoe Williams, director of the Vagina Museum.
She said, “Almost a third of young women are embarrassed to go to the doctor to talk about gynaecological symptoms, including symptoms of endometriosis such as heavy bleeding and debilitating pain.
“Half the world has a vulva, and together with De Nadas, we’re breaking taboos and eradicating shame.”

Founded in 2022, De Nadas is the UK’s first empanadería to specialise in Argentinian hand-shaped empanadas.
“Out of all our empanadas, this is my new favourite,” said Annabel Martinez-Fox, co-founder of De Nadas.
“We are delighted to be working with the amazing team at the Vagina Museum and support the work they do to promote vagina positivity and women’s health.
“It’s also a great start to our new home in the Poyser Street community.”

The Vagina Museum is the world’s first physical institution dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy.
It was founded in response to a lack of gynaecological representation across the world, and provides exhibitions, talks, workshops and events.
Launched in 2019 in its first permanent home in Camden Market, the Vagina Museum recently took over two railway arches on Bethnal Green’s Poyser Street.
