Aquatic Development Group (ADG), a leading water park and recreational design, construction and manufacturing firm, has shared details of its pivotal role in the development of the $400 million OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark, which opened on 21 February in Oklahoma City, US.
ADG served as both the owner’s representative for the whole project, and provided design and build services for the 100,000-square-foot indoor waterpark and 4.5-acre outdoor adventure lagoon. The company has been key to shaping the experience to ensure that it is coherent, immersive, and enjoyable.
Jim Dunn, president of ADG, says: “We are thrilled to see OKANA Resort come together so seamlessly, bringing to life an exciting vision for a one-of-a-kind destination in Oklahoma City.
“It has been an incredible collaboration with great clients, and ADG is honored to have played a role supporting this project—not only as a water feature design/builder but also through our developer services program. This holistic approach allowed us to help shape the resort from concept to completion. The partnership between the OKANA team, the Chickasaw Nation, and ADG has truly resulted in something special.”
Developer Support Program
The OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark sets a new standard for entertainment in Oklahoma City and includes a luxurious 404-room hotel, numerous dining options, a cutting-edge family entertainment centre, and world-class water attractions.
As the owner’s representative, ADG oversaw the project’s budgeting, planning, and execution ensuring timely delivery that was within scope.
The ADG Developer Support Program provides clients with assistance in master planning, budgeting, and the delivery of every last detail. This hands-on approach optimises development and maximizes return on investment for all of the project’s partners and stakeholders.
Furthermore, ADG worked alongside the Chickasaw Nation to help define the vision for the resort, so guaranteeing that all components were seamlessly combined to create a world-class entertainment destination.
Construction management & water feature design/build expertise
In addition to its role as the owner’s representative, ADG leveraged its expertise as a leading water park and aquatic venue design, construction, and manufacturing firm, and was crucial to ensuring the quality of the OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark experience.
The company has over 50 years of experience in providing design/build and equipment, serving 4,000 aquatic facilities worldwide and with a portfolio of more than 100 completed design/build projects. The company also offers turnkey packages.
OKANA is home to the biggest indoor water park in the region which appeals to guests of all ages with a 6,200-square-foot wave pool, a 420-foot lazy river, thrill slides, a sheet wave, premium cabanas, and an adult-only pool.
Its outdoor adventure lagoon will open in the summer with a huge recreational area featuring an inflatable obstacle course, body slides, a swim-up bar, and a unique “fly” pool where visitors can zip, jump, and slide into the water.
ADG managed the construction of all elements of both the waterpark and the adventure lagoon, from the foundations to the installation of the water attractions. The company’s advanced WaveTek wave generation equipment and water attractions were included and elevate the visitor experience, providing a combination of attractions that caters to all visitors. WaveTek technology powers more than 90% of all wave systems in the US.
Last year, ADG celebrated milestone achievements for two of its products. EpicSurf, the only deep-water stationary surf wave produced in the US, was honoured with the People’s Choice Award at Surf Park Summit for its work to improve accessibility in collaboration with Aqua Creek. In addition, WaveTek revealed a new logo and branding, reflecting the firm’s 50+ year heritage while presenting a bold vision for the future.
