AZA, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, has opened registration for the 2024 AZA Annual Conference.
The conference is the biggest event for zoo and aquarium professionals and will take place at the BMO Centre in Calgary, Canada, from 14 to 19 September.
Delegates can network with over 2,000 colleagues from AZA-accredited aquariums and zoos, and explore ideas in more than 150 educational sessions, presentations and discussions. 75 committees meet and share updates at the event, whilst the Exhibit Hall showcases new technology and services from over 150 organisations. A detailed programme will be released in June.

Exclusive tours
The 2024 AZA Annual Conference will be hosted by the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, which has also arranged a selection of pre- and post-conference tour options. For an additional fee, delegates who wish to spend longer in Calgary can enjoy exclusive tours to Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo’s Archibald Biodiversity Center; Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper; Southern Alberta and Waterton; golf in the Canadian Rockies, and more.
Last year, the AZA announced the selection of seven conservation and research initiatives led by AZA members to receive support from the Conservation Grants Fund (CGF). This support totalled $153,607.
The AZA Conservation Grants Fund, founded in 1984, is a competitive grants programme that supports conservation-related scientific and educational projects from AZA members and their partners. The Association invests community conservation funds in its signature conservation brand, SAFE: Saving Animals From Extinction.
At the 2023 AZA Conference, the Association honoured Wildlife Explorers Basecamp at the San Diego Zoo with its Exhibit Award and Into the Deep at the Monterey Bay Aquarium with an Innovation Award.
