Expo City Dubai is opening a new museum dedicated to the 2020 World Expo on 18 May, also known as International Museum Day.
A miniature city building on the legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai, the site is already home to many of the World Expo’s entertainment offerings, including the Garden in the Sky observation tower and the Surreal water feature.
Now, the repurposed site will be home to the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum, which takes visitors on a journey through the entire World Expo project via mixed-media exhibits and interactive content.
Guided tours of the museum, located in the Opportunity district, take place every 30 minutes. The new venue includes a shop selling Expo 2020 Dubai memorabilia.
On 18 and 19 May, Expo City Dubai is offering free entry to the new museum. From 20 May, it will be included in the city’s one-day attractions pass.
Designed as a blueprint for sustainable urban living, Expo City Dubai includes educational and cultural experiences, entertainment offerings, and residential communities.
Entertainment at Dubai’s mini-city
Marjan Faraidooni, chief of education and culture at Expo City Dubai, told blooloop last year: “It’s very visitor-centric. Visitors can come to our museums, and they can also come and be part of the events that we have on-site.”
“In the short term, we will continue to welcome visitors from all over the world to our events and attractions,” she added.
“In the long term, we will continue to create this human-centric city that is not only about getting businesses and corporates to do their work, but also respects nature, and respects people.”
