Therme Group has revealed its first facility to open in the US will be an $800 million water park and wellness resort near downtown Dallas, Texas.
Via the Dallas Morning News, Therme Group has an agreement to purchase 24 acres of land from real estate firm Matthews Southwest, said John Alschuler, executive chairman of Therme US.
Therme Group will seek planning and zoning approval from Dallas later this year, and will also apply for economic incentives.
Therme’s wellness resort will anchor the 24-acre development in Dallas, which will also include a hotel.
An estimated $500 million will be spent on construction costs, while an estimated $300m will go towards costs such as design fees and related purchases.
Like all Therme attractions, the new Dallas location would include thermal baths, saunas, mineral pools, waterslides, immersive art, and restaurants.
It would be an affordable destination, Alschuler said:
“We want to save health and wellbeing from becoming a luxury product and accessible only to the wealthiest people in the United States.
“We want to contribute to making this community a more economically equitable place.”
Therme Dallas could open as soon as 2030
Therme Group has not selected a lead architect for the Dallas project, but Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates will serve as the landscape architect.
More than 1,000 palm trees and other native Texas plants will be used for the facility.
Therme’s plans for a resort in Dallas come after the company announced a site for its new facility in Washington, DC.
The Dallas venue will be the first Therme destination to open in the US. It will launch at around the same time that construction begins in DC.
If approved, Therme’s Dallas resort could open as soon as 2030.

“Therme Dallas will bring to life a new standard for urban spaces offering an integrated solution that reconnects us with nature, self, and others — enhancing physical, mental, social, and collective wellbeing,” Robert Hammond, president and chief strategy officer, Therme Group US, said in a press release.
Last month, Therme Group revealed plans for 10 wellness resorts in the US over the next decade.
