The Museum Computer Network (MCN), a non-profit organisation supporting museums to achieve their digital goals, has announced that registration is now open for its 2024 conference in Kansas, US.

MCN 2024 Conference will take place from 22 to 24 October and will gather cultural heritage professionals from museums and historic sites across North America and internationally for stimulating conversations, networking opportunities, and valuable insights into the future of museums in the digital era.

Please click here to register for the event. A discounted early bird rate is available until 19 August.

Spencer Museum of Art

2024 will see the event take place in Kansas for the first time, where it will be held in collaboration with the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas. With over 48,000 works, the Spencer is a hub for object-centred research and teaching, creative production, and public dialogue.

The conference will include two days of educational sessions, covering topics from technical deep dives to inspiring case studies. Delegates can also enjoy networking opportunities, an evening reception, and the conference’s hallmark event, Ignite! The full programme will be announced in mid-August.

MCN seeks to make the conference accessible to a wide range of participants, for example, smaller organisations which may have fewer resources for professional development, but which offer a vital contribution to the muse-tech environment.

In addition to the early bird offer, MCN has released a limited number of discounted tickets for students as well as reduced rates for delegates from smaller organisations (for-profit organisations with fewer than five employees or non-profit institutions with annual operating budgets of less than $10M).

Furthermore, its BIPOC Speakers Fund seeks to increase the engagement of BIPOC people and enhance the conference by providing a platform for a diverse range of speakers. The funding will be allocated evenly among self-identified and self-nominated BIPOC conference speakers. Attendees can make a donation to the BIPOC Speakers Fund at registration.

The Museum Computer Network (MCN) recently shared details of its call for proposals for MCN 2024. MCN has been bringing together museum technology professionals from all career levels and disciplines for over half a century.
