The Museum Computer Network (MCN), a non-profit organisation supporting museums to achieve their digital goals, has shared the programme for MCN 2024, which is taking place from 22 to 24 October in Kansas, US.
The conference, hosted in partnership with the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas, provides an exciting environment for museum professionals from across North America and worldwide, to meet, share expertise, and learn about the most recent breakthroughs in digital technologies for the sector.
The full event agenda is available here.
Over 40 sessions
The MCN 2024 programme includes more than 40 sessions across two days, ranging from technical deep dives to insightful case studies. Attendees will explore topics such as AI, information technology, education and interpretive media, human-centred design, and much more.
Highlights include:
- An evening walking reception featuring visits to the University of Kansas Natural History Museum and the Spencer Museum of Art.
- AI sessions, such as Bringing the Future of Accessibility Forward with AI-Assisted Image Descriptions and Algorithms & Artifacts: Deciphering AI’s Role in Museums.
- Networking events to meet colleagues and create long-term partnerships, including two speed networking sessions.
- The signature Ignite Reception at Abe & Jake’s Landing, featuring a series of quick-fire talks from creative thinkers in the museum field.
Last month, MCN opened registration for its 2024 conference, which is being held in Kansas for the first time this year.
The organisation seeks to make the event accessible to a wide range of participants, for example, smaller organisations which may have fewer resources for professional development, but which make a significant contribution to the muse-tech environment.
Reduced rates are available for delegates from small organisations (for-profit organisations with fewer than five employees or non-profit institutions with annual operating budgets of less than $10M). In addition, a limited number of discounted tickets for students are available.
