The Dorset Museum & Art Gallery is hosting a special private viewing for naturists this month, with visitors able to enjoy its collection in the nude.
Taking place on 17 September, the naked event is put on by British Naturism, the UK’s national representative body for naturism.
Via the British Naturism website, the organisation exists “to unite and support naturists, to protect and provide more naturist venues, to make social nudity acceptable in the UK and to provide comprehensive information on naturism and naturists around the world”.
The ticket price of £16 includes a glass of wine, changing facilities, a locker for clothes, and entry to all galleries. British Naturism said the event is “an amazing opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of the museum – naked”.

With nothing on, guests will get to discover the life and work of Dorset novelist and poet Thomas Hardy, view sculptures by Elisabeth Frink, and see the museum’s collection of paintings, prints, drawings and textiles.
Established in 1846 in Dorchester, the Dorset Museum displays 250 million years of county history. It reopened in 2021 following a two-year, £16.4 million revamp.
The museum hosts public programmes, exhibitions and events. It welcomes more than 50,000 visitors every year and contributes significantly to the local economy.
In January 2025, the Dorset Museum is opening a new touring exhibition in partnership with the British Museum. Called ‘Gladiators of Britain’, it showcases the history of gladiatorial contests in Roman Britain.
Claire Dixon, executive director of the Dorset Museum, said: “Visitors will be able to explore the rarely told story of gladiators in Britain and we will be showcasing our own collections that include Roman archaeology, mosaics and stories from across the county.”
